Good evening ladies and gentlemen. My name is [NAVN A], and I am a student at IBC Fredericia/ Middelfart. I also spend much of my time researching pollution and climate change.

First, I would like to thank you for granting me the opportunity to speak to you bright young adults. It is truly an honour.

Tonight I will present my take on a massive problem concerning pollution and climate change, which is bottled water. In my speech, I will cover the following topics: why bottled water is a problem, whom it affects, and what we must do.

Let me start by asking you who uses plastic water bottles. Okay, that is interesting. Then please let me know if I am wrong when I describe the following scenario: when we are all sitting in class learning about a new business model or a mathematical formula, we tend to get thirsty. We quickly realise that we did not bring our reusable water bottles with us to school. Conveniently we can buy plastic water bottles from the canteen, and when school is done, we throw the plastic water bottle in the bin. This is an evil circle that leads to tons of plastic waste. What I am describing is not Denmark 30 years ago when we did not care about climate change and pollution. No, I am describing contemporary Denmark. The number one most climate-friendly country in the world according to the EPI score of 82.5. A country with a deposit system that breaks world records for most recycled bottles annually. Although that is the case, people still tend to live a lifestyle where it is customary to throw plastic water bottles in the bin. This can’t go unnoticed, or can it?
