My mom used to be a big fan of new kids on the block, every wall in her bedroom was decorated with posters, torn out pictures from magazines and CD’s. In her free time she would go to vinyl shops and listen to new music, hear the radio and attend live concerts when the opportunity came. Every week, she waited patiently for a magazine from the magazine shop. The magazine featured famous artists like new singers and Britney Spears. There was also gossip from Hollywood and quizzes to see if you were a superfan.
The magazines were her main source of knowledge about her idols. She had little access to content and news from her idols compared to now where I get notifications every day, who send new content out, like new videos, text messages and photos. It can sometimes feel stressful to always have to catch up on the groups, but on the other hand I also don't think I can wait a whole week to get updated about them again.
Even though music has changed, the passion and excitement of being a music fan haven't changed at all.
When the table gets to quit in the afternoon, my father sometimes tells a story from his teenage years. I have always enjoyed the stories, especially the ones where he gets in trouble.
