Examination and dissection of a pig heartMade by [NAVN A], [NAVN B], [NAVN C], and [NAVN D].
We decided to examine the inside of the heart, and because of the resemblance between the pig heart and the human heart, we will be able to get an impression of what the human heart looks like, and how it works, by dissecting a pig heart. We want to discover the path of the blood through the heart and reach an understanding of how it works.
We located the apex and we saw the ventricles. The left ventricle was thicker than the right ventricle. The left ventricle is thicker because its job is to pump blood out through the entire body, where as the right ventricle only pumps blood to the lungs.
At the top of the heart, we could identify multiple of the major veins and arteries. The arteries is carrying the oxygenated blood out through the body, and the veins carry the de-oxygenated blood back to the heart to get oxygenated.
We could follow one of the major veins opening
By identifying the openings at the top of the heart, we could follow the pulmonary arteries into the trunk and further through the right ventricle.
