In a little town named Cloucester, with 30.000 inhabitants, they are looking for the reason to why 16-17 year old girls agree to become pregnant. One reason is the hard living conditions for many families. It has been shown that at the local high school 17 of the pupils were pregnant. It’s an explosion in relation to the average 4 pregnancies per year. This is something that they aren’t proud of, and individuals refuse the development as something random, while others believe that there’s talk about moral decay. Others believe that it is role models like Britney Spears’ fault. Rector will not deny that famous people can have affected the young girls, but also believes that local conditions have an influence. The school nurse was surprised by the number of girls who ask for a pregnancy test. Even several times. Rector has heard from nearly half of the girls that they have made a pact. The pact was that the girls should get pregnant and help each other raise their children. But none of the girls are willing to confirm it. It’s told that a couple of girls discovered they were pregnant at the same time, and instead of getting an abortion they agreed to help each other. When a girl brings birth to a child, the school will offer free daycare. The local pediatrician has tried to persuade the school to distribute contraption to the students, with or without parents’ allowance. Rector supports the suggestion about distributing contraption at school, but adds that it probably wouldn’t have prevented the 17 pregnancies, because many of the girls were happy about their pregnancy. The latest statement shows that 750.000 teenagers get pregnant every year. The number is decreasing.
