Familiens rolle i det senmoderne samfund: analyse af 'Bridget Jones Diary'

The study investigates what quint of role the family has in the late modern society. The Danish society has changed significantly over the years, and so has the family. We are no longer dependent on the family, therefore we have opportunity to pick and choose. The nuclear family has changed significantly, and more divorces and the single culture have arisen. People dreams about the one and only, but the person has to be perfect. In that connection it would be interesting to explain the central characteristic of the late modern society, analyses the British romantic comedy, Bridget Jones Diary, which is based on Helen Fielding’s roman, and focus on how the movie connected to single culture in the late modern society, and the importance of the family. Afterwards the analysis a discussion of the extent to which social media reflects features of late modern society, and how these media affect perceptions of relationship and the family. The conclusion is, that the family role and importance has changed significantly. We are no longer dependent on the norms, values and a tradition in the family, since the individuals in the late modern society has become more individualized.
