Let me start of by introducing myself. My name is Samantha and I am 16 years old. I live in the United States of America and go to Maine high school. You are probably wondering about, why I wrote this message and even put in a bottle so I could throw it in the sea.
At my school we have a project called “Messages around the world”
My classmates and I are testing different kinds of message forms. As you can probably guess I am testing the messages by bottle. We are also testing pigeons’ ability to find their way from A to B and of cause the E-Mail. But an E-Mail only takes about 60 seconds to arrive, so the competition is not really fair, is it? The pigeons’ are actually very clever! I never thought I would say this but they truly are. The pigeons have to be trained to deliver messages and when they are taught to do so, they do a fantastic job. Sure, it is not the same speed as an E-Mail, but a lot faster and better than my bottle messages. I do not know where they end up, as far as I know you could be in Europe, Asia, or even just down the coast. Unlike bottles, pigeons have sort of compass build in to their brain and can find their way around the world. Do not ask me how they do it, but it certainly works. We once send a little note with it and got one back with the same pigeon. It only took about a two weeks. Oh, I forgot to mention that it flew from Maine all the way to Cleveland and back. I think that is very impressive!
