In what kind of society is the movie going on? Describe the area, the town, the house, job situation, money etc.

The movie took place in New Zealand. The family was on six children and they lived in a slum, because they were poor. Their home were in a city where there was a lot going on in the streets at night, as we saw the last day Gracie lived. The mother didn´t have a job, so she took care of the things at home. Some of the days in the movie, Jake brought home food or some cash.

The family came from the Maoris who were the first people in New Zealand. They have a very special culture, but this family didn´t hang on to it, as some people still do.

Make a short description of the family and its members.

The family didn’t have a lot of money, but they seemed to give priority to have food on the table every night. It was a very chaotic family as we saw in the movie, with a lot of baggage behind them. There were so many problems in the family, which showed of on the children who was not having a good childhood at all. I found it very tragic and eye opening, that some families actually live a life like the family Heke. The children couldn´t sleep at night owing to the parties the parents or most likely Jake Heke were hosting in their homes. It almost ends with a fight at every party, which the children also could hear loudly. They were afraid every night to not knowing what they would wake up to. Like a destroyed and messed house, or as we saw one time in the movie – their mom who had been beaten badly. The family consisted of 6 children and their parents. In the movie you only get to know the three eldest kids named Nig, Boogie and Gracie
