South Africa is the most advanced country in Africa but there is still a lot of serious problems in South Africa. The two biggest problems, in my opinion, in South Africa are unemployment and crime .
26.1% of the people in South Africa are unemployed. High unemployment means that there are people who are willing and able to work but don´t have any jobs. The effect of high unemployment for the government means that there are fewer tax revenues because fewer people are working, and that means that fewer people are not earning enough to pay income tax, this results in that the government will receive less tax revenues and this will have a big impact on the government, this is just one of the effects of high unemployment for the government. High unemployment also impact the unemployed people themselves because they will suffer a loss of income and will either survive on private savings or benefits As a result, they will be able to buy fewer goods and they will see a fall in their standard of living. According to 59% of the people in South Africa mean that the biggest problems in South Africa is unemployment.
Another big problem in South Africa is crime. They have the highest crime rate in the world, with several violent crimes like rape, assault, and murders. The murder rate increased from 32.9% in 2014/15 to 33.9% in 2015/16. The murder rate is also five times higher than the world average. The world´s average rate is six people per 100000. South Africa´s rate is 33 per 100000 5.5 more than the global average. People in South Africa have been criticised the government for doing too little to stop the crime. I have a statistic that indicates which province that have been recorded most crime incidents. The province that has most number of crime incident per 1000 residents is Western Cape with 42.8%.
