The cultural revolution ruled by Mao, tried to eliminate confucianism from the culture. It was argued that confucianism valued hierarchical so much that it would damage the country. This was in terms of the development, and the ingenuity of the people. However the perception of confucianism has changed a lot from the Mao ideology and cultural revolution.

The chinese government lead by Xi Jinping, wants to make China great again. They want to make china a superpower, which involves chinese culture as a great part. Chinese culture is rich and very ancient, and by promoting this as part of the curriculum in schools, the ideas will once again be spread. Confucianism is a popular, and is perceived positively across large parts of Asia and the world. Compared to Maoism and Marxism, confucianism is something that can be pledged positively. This is because many people can relate to it. China has already tried to reimplement confucianism by raising a confucianism statue. This was torn down, however due to disagreements in the party.

What constitutes core elements in Confucianism historically?

Confucianism is an old Chinese believe that the Chinese government has previously been very negative and against the ideas behind confucianism. In 2011 confucianism was officially acknowledged through raising a statute, that got removed due to heated arguments and debates. People will either be for or against confucianism and it will probably always be a big debate in China.
