The history behind Novo Nordisk goes back more than 90 years. Novo Nordisk. The beginning of the company started when two small Danish companies ‘Nordisk Insulin Laboratorium’ and ‘Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium’ founded in 1923 and 1925. The two companies started a production of Insulin that had just been discovered. Both companies had the same vision, they both wanted to develop products to benefit the people that suffered from diabetes. Both companies competed against each other and ended up as the best two companies within the market of insulin. In 1989 the two companies decided to merge into one and therefore created ‘Novo Nordisk. The company has ever since then been expanding rapidly within the market of diabetes, obesity care, hemophilia care, growth hormone therapy, and hormone replacement therapy.

What is the mission/vision of Novo Nordisk?

Novo Nordisk’s mission and vision are to make it possible for people to live with chronic diseases. They want to make a change and fight diabetes and other serious chronic diseases. Novo Nordisk has over 90 years, made medicine that’s been standing for innovation and leadership within diabetes treatments. This gave them the experience and the skills, that they today make it possible to fight and to help people with chronic diseases like diabetes. They want people living with chronic diseases to be able to have a normal life, unaffected by their disease, and the side effects of it. They also want people of all income, to be able to take care of themselves. The brand was created by the idea of helping others, therefore a mission for Novo Nordisk is of course that they can help everyone.
