In fact, the weather was pretty terrible. The rain stood down in stride currents and the wind whipped the trees so violently that the branches hit the windows, making a hollow and very eerie "bump-bump" sound.
Mary was home alone and this evening with the storm outside, the house seemed much bigger than it used to be. Therefore, Mary had chosen to be only in the living room and all the other rooms she had closed the doors to. The living room was at the back of the house and when you were sitting on the sofa you could have an overview of the whole living room, and not least the door at the end. If someone wanted to come through the door, she could see it right away on the handle. The only thing she didn't have an overview of was the windows out to the garden at the back of the sofa, but she had drawn the curtains too. All she would like her to need was inside the living room on the coffee table. She had picked up the duvet and pillow, soft drinks, sweets, chips and the DVDs she had imagined she would see.
Tucked under the duvet, she started the first movie. It was an old English film that she had seen at least 100 times but never got tired of. She felt nice safe under her duvet, and the film immediately got her in good spirits. Suddenly she heard a big bang and it started pulling violently from the window. Mary turned with a set and then crawled out under the duvet. She quickly walked over and pulled the curtain off and found out that the window had blown up.
