I want to talk about the rights of children, because it's a really important issue.

Why I chose the topic: I’ve chosen this topic because I think it’s a very interesting topic and because I once saw a film about a young African boy who where a child soldier and a young Asian girl who worked in the mines. Declaration of the Children rights §2 it basically says that you have the right to grow up and develop yourself, physically as well as spiritually in a normal healthy way. To live free and with dignity. I chose this paragraph because, you can’t grow up working in a mine or as soldier, and still develop you in a normal way, and definitely not with dignity. §9 it says that you shall not be forced to do work which can hinder your development. It also says that shouldn’t work before a minimum age. I picked it because first of all, as a child worker you are working under the minimum age, second of all, some children are forced to work. In the military, as well as in the mines. Child soldier: ? Back in medieval Europe there were used child soldiers. They used boys in the age of 12 and up. It basically just went downhill from there. The more children who were used, the younger they got. Right now, it’s almost only in Africa there’s still used child soldiers. They were and are mostly used as military aides or spies, though in theory their role in an actual fight is quite limited. I wanted to figure out, why the children were used, but it’s almost impossible to find an exact answer. Therefore I took a wild guess. I think the children were used, because no one would walk into a room and shoot a child. A child will forever and always be something that needs protection and not something that protects. A child should be innocent, and therefore they’ll be treated like if they were innocent and harmless. Besides that children are smaller, so they can move around, without being seen, easier than an adult. In Denmark it’s not even possible to become a child soldier. When you’ve turned eighteen you can apply for the military.
