The Oscar-winning 2013 film “12 Years a Slave”, directed by Steve McQueen. The film “12 Years a Slave” is a true story that talks about Solomon Northup, who was born in New York. Solomon was a free black man, and he was a musician and played the violin. Solomon had a family " his wife Anne and three children ".

Solomon’s wife Anne and the children left to another city, because she found a job. Solomon met two white men "Brown and Hamilton” who offered a job to him introduce in a circus in Washington. But when Solomon traveled with them, they sold him to other men who work in the slave trade who hit him because he said, he is a free man.

Solomon and other black men, women, and children transported by ship to New Orleans, and they changed Solomon's name to Platt, and they sold Solomon to a white man ”William Ford" who has a lot of slaves to cut down trees. But Ford sold Solomon to a bad man named “John Tibeats”.

Tibeats punished Solomon and wanted to hang him, but a man from Ford’s farmer saved him. Tibeats sold Solomon to Edwin Epps, who had a cotton farm. Epps was a very bad man with slavers and hit them. Solomon asked a white man called Armsby to post the letter in Marksville.
