William was surfing the net when suddenly it was there. The dream job. He grabbed his phone and called the number. A man answered the phone. “Tom’s Greengrocery,” The man said. “Hello this is William Smith,” William said. “Can I help you?” The man asked. “Yes I want to apply for the job at the greengrocery.” William said. “Oh, well why don’t you come down for an interview?” William was very excited. “Yes, yes of course!” He said. What’s the address?” The man gave William the address. William thanked him and said; “I’ll see you tomorrow.” The same night William couldn’t fall asleep. He was so excited. Ever since his mother told him to get a job, he had wanted to be a greengrocer. He fell asleep at 2:30 pm and woke up at seven o’clock next morning. He should be at the interview at 12 o’clock. He came to the town at 11:45 by moped. He walked into the grocery, and met Tom, the man he had spoken to on the phone last night. They shook hands and William followed Tom into a smaller room with a table and two chairs. “Sit down,” Tom said and smiled. “Thank you.” William said. “You want to work here?” Tom asked. “Yes, since my mom told me to get a job, I’ve wanted to work at a greengrocery.” William answered. “And why exactly at a greengrocery and not just a grocery?” Tom asked. “Because at a grocery there are all kinds of articles, but at a greengrocery, there is just fruit and vegetables and it has this lovely smell.” “And have you had a job before?” Tom asked. “No, but I really want this job.” William said. Tom turned out to be a man who thought everyone should have a chance. “Alright then, should we give it a shot?” Tom asked. “You bet!” William said. When just before he went home, he sent a SMS message to his best friend Alex and told him that he got the job. The pay was five £ per hour and William worked at the grocery two hours, five days a week. Most of the people who traded at Tom’s Greengrocery were very nice and William was looking forward to get down to the greengrocer almost every day.
