Many new things happened in the 1960s in the USA. The 1960s were a socially and a politically time for black Americans. The United States was one of the belligerents of the war in Vietnam from 1955 to 1975. They were helping the South Vietnam, so they were one of the anti-communist forces. At the same time, as there was war in Vietnam, the hippies came to the world. They stood for peace and harmony and were very much against the war in Vietnam. Their motto was "Make love, not war". Which I think is a very good motto. Everyone should live by the hippies motto, but it is unfortunately not something i decide. The hippie subculture was a youth movement in the United States during the mid-1060s, but it quickly spread to other countries around the world. They were dressed very colorful and flowery. They exceeded lots of frontiers, both sexually and with tough drugs. They smoked much hash and were taking a lot of LSD, which has a fierce and deadly effect on you. The Woodstock festival began in the late 1960s, and was really popular. It was music and good atmosphere in about three days in a row. With the message "Three days of peace and music" was the Woodstock festival, with to represent one of the the highlights within the hippie culture and the time of the spirit of the late 1960s. John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States, serving from January 20th, 1961 until he got shot in November 22nd, 1963. He became president, just in the middle of the Cold war, and he had a lot to do international. He got shot in Dallas in Texas in 1963, and the doctors struggled in vain to rescue the president's life. But he died at 1pm (local time) the 22nd of November, 1963. After Kennedy's death, it was Lyndon B. Johnson, who was vice president of John Kennedy and would take the place as America's 36th president. It did, however, slowly but surely downhill with Lyndon B. Johnson's popularity because of his involvement in the Vietnam War. He chose to resign as president of
