"Going to be another hot day," Hank Spano said to himself as he climbed out of his red Buick and walked across the parking lot to his diner. He fished a big bounch of keys out of he pocket, unlocked the back door and went inside. He switched on the coffee-maker and got donuts out of the freezer before he unlocked the street door and switched on the electric sign: Hank's Diner. "Yep, it sure is going to be another scorcher," he said, standing in the doorway and looking up at the cloudless sky. It was just as he turned around to go back inside that he saw the kid... ...There on the street stood a little kid, with a little bag on a stick, just like a drifter from a movie, he walked over to the little kid and said "hi kiddo, what are you doing?" the boy looked up at him and answered "I'm running away," Hank smiled and asked "oh I did that once too, are you thirsty son?" the kid thought about it for a few seconds and the answered "yeah a little bit" "then follow me I'll get you a milkshake" Hank answered and started walking slowly towards his dinner, when he was about to open the door the kid suddenly stood right behind him smiling, they went in and Hank walked up and started making a milkshake for the kid, the kid climbed up on one of the tall bar stools. Hank passed him the milkshake and said "I'm Hank by the way, what's your name?" the boy looked at him and answered "Jimmy, Jimmy Johnson" "Well Jimmy, what are you running from?" Hank asked. Jimmy didn't answer he just started drinking the milkshake, while he looked down at the floor, the door opened and in came a woman "hi Hank" she said, "hi Gina" he replied "what's today's special?" Gina looked at a note she had in her hand and said "chicken stew" Hank turned around and wrote "Today's special, chicken stew" on the black board behind him, Gina went out into the kitchen and began to cook. Hank looked at Jimmy and said "enjoying your milkshake son?" Jimmy smiled and said "it's great, thank you" the door opened again and in came a police officer "hey there Hank" he said, Hank looked at him and answered "hi Pete, What can I get for you" "oh just the usual" Pete said and sad down, right next Jimmy. Hank found three different donuts and made a cup of coffee for Pete, Pete started eating and where done with the donuts after a few minutes, he looked at Jimmy and said "hi kid I'm Pete" the boy looked at Pete face, that was filled with covered in jam from one of the donuts, "hello, I'm Jimmy," Pete took an extra look at Jimmy and asked "you're not Jimmy Johnson are you?" Jimmy looked at him and said "yes, how do you know my name?" "We got a call about you this morning just as I got into the station from your mom, so I think I'm going to have to drive you back to your mother son." Jimmy looked shocked and yelled "I don't want to go home!" Pete looked at Jimmy and tried to tell him that he had to, but Jimmy kept refusing, But then Hank laid his hand on Jimmy's shoulder
