The story takes places in Scotland in a small city called Greenock
were we meet a young boy named Liam (Martin Compston). Liam is a 15 year old boy who is born into a life that nobody wants. Liam's mother is in jail because she used to be a drug dealer. Liam lives with his mom's boyfriend, Stan (Gary McCormack) who is a drug dealer, and his criminal grandfather Rab (Tommy McKee). When Stan and Rab throw Liam out, because he doesn't want to give his mother drugs, Liam seeks the only one in his family who is trying to live an honest and better life with her little son; his sister Chantal (Annmarie Fulton). Chantal is trying to get a better life for her and her son; Calum (Calum McAlees), by taking some night classes. Chantal can`t forgive her mother because she have been gone the most of their lives. Liam is waiting for his mothers release and it happens to be on his 16 birthday. In the story Liam struggles to make him and his mother a safe and good life. Liam wants to do anything to pursue that dream. In order to get a better life Liam needs money. The only way he could think of was to be a drug dealer with his friend Pinball (William Ruane). In order to get his mother he has to fight for her.
