The Frank Family lived in a house, in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Today her house is remodeled into a museum, which gets over a million visits, every year.
Her family, the Frank family, consisted mostly of liberal Jewish people, meaning that they didn’t follow all rules and traditions which is found within Judaism.
1933, Anne 4 years old: The Nazis gained control over Germany. So the Frank family moved from Germany to the Netherlands, into safety. Anne was 4 years old at the time.
1940, Anne 11 years old: trapped in Amsterdam, caused by the German occupation of the Netherlands. So they’d have to go into hiding
12 June, 1942, Annes 13’s birthday: Anne Frank’s birthday. Otto frank, her dad, gives her an “autograph book” bound with red and white cloth. Anne quickly decided to use it as a diary instead.
July, 1942: The family goes into hiding
Anne writes consistently in her diary for 2 years, until her death in August, 1944. Her father Otto is the only survivor in the family and he decides to let the Diary get published, after seeing how accurate and well-written it is.
