Book Review (Lord of the Flies, by Willam Golding (1954))

In a few sentences, what this book is about:

The book is about a group of boys who crashes onto an island with a plane. There are no surviving adults which force them to start taking care of themselves. The book follows the boys in trying to make a living and build a civilization. At first there is one whole tribe lead by Ralph, a boy with fair hair, and they focus a lot on being rescued. But when Jack, a choir leader, feels that he is being overlooked, he tries to take the power and the boys split in two tribes. Everything gets out of hand, the boys kill each other and become savage beasts and there is no turning back. At the point where everything is most chaotic they are rescued by a naval officer.

What I liked most about the book:

I think that the book was very well-written in a sort of old-fashioned English, and I have learned a lot of new words from the book. Golding writes perfect English, using loads of unknown English words. In the story itself I liked that all of the boys were rescued in the end because I think they deserved it especially after everything they had been through. I think it was great that it had a “happy” ending, as happy as it could be under the circumstances.
