Forrest Gump1: I think that Tom Hanks did a great job as Forrest Gump. He lived further than my expectations. I always like to watch Tom hanks. He is one of my favorite actors. It was just so fun, and great to watch the movie. 2: Forrest played a big role in some historical events:1: In the movie Elvis Presley comes to stay at the Boarding Home that the Gumps run. Forrest dances in a very weird way while Elvis plays the guitar. This inspires Elvis Presley to find new dance moves similar to those that Forrest showed him. This was his special move. The "Hound Dog" was it called.2: In the movie, Jenny takes Forrest Gump to a meeting of the Black Panther Party. The Black Panther Party was an African American revolutionary organization from 1966-1982. They believed in preventing racism against blacks, and that all blacks deserved to be treated equally to whites in society. The group was specifically known for its military posture and its way of expressing their beliefs.3: The Hippie movement did actually start in the USA. During the mid-1960's a hippie subculture started to emerge among the youth population. The main belief they had was, that the Vietnam war was,stupid. The Hippie's created their own social groups where they embraced the sexual revolution and used drugs such as marijuana and LSD, to "explore" new states of life. In the movie, Forrest Gump is about to give a speech on his feelings about the war in Vietnam, when the speaker system malfunctions and his speech is never heard. 4: Forrest meets John Lennon from the band "Beatles". They were both on a talk show with Dick Carret. Later John were shot, and Forrest did not know why.5: Forrest wants to join the army, and he goes to the frontline in the Vietnam war. He saved many of the men, that he was sent to the frontline with. On of the men were Lieutenant Dan. Many people was against the war because the men were just send to their death down in Vietnam.6: In the movie, Forrest Gump becomes very good at playing ping pong. In fact, he is so good that he is asked to play on the American team against the Chinese. This is a clear parallel to the term Ping Pong Diplomacy which was used between the Americans and the Chinese. 3: Food & clothingVeterans Inc. provides 300,000 meals and $100,000 worth of clothing to veterans and their families each year.In 1993, 85 families were registered in the Veterans Inc. Food Bank program. Today there are more than 800 families registered.Employment & training programVeterans retrained by Veterans Inc.: more than 1,00080% of clients successfully complete a training program or workshop.
