Der ønskes en redegørelse for urbaniseringsprocessen i Danmark i sidste halvdel af 1800-tallet.

Dernæst ønskes en analyse af levevilkårene for den arbejdsklasse, der opstod i de større byer.

Endelig ønskes en vurdering af bagrunden for, at så mange mennesker valgte at flytte ind til byerne.

Abstract

This paper examines how the urbanization in Denmark in the late 1800’s affected the Danish society to become more modern. The focus will be on why the urbanization arose, the living conditions of the working class in the big cities in Denmark, and why such a large part of the population decided to migrate to the big cities despite the miserable living conditions.

I have approached this assignment by finding the most basic information about urbanization on the Internet, and then I have tried to find some sort of connection between simultaneous historical events in Denmark to find out how and why the urbanization process arose.

The results I got from this method were sufficiently enough to begin the paper. I obtained that the urbanization had a strong connection with the industrialization in Denmark. I also obtained that the urban drift also was caused by the population growth on the country. Many of the kids born at the country would not inherit anything from their parents, which caused them to move to the bigger cities to find a job on one of the newly build factories.
