Bullying: en personlig beretning og refleksion

It all started in the year 2010. At first it was jokes or for “fun”. We had a new classmate; I would not say that she was very good looking. My classmates and other grade mates were not very welcoming and later on made nicknames for her like “Hunchback of Notre dame”. At first no one took it serious and never really looked deep at it. She was a very rich child. Most of the bullies were girls. They started picking on her for her money and food. They would write letters to her saying: “You are really beautiful, can we meet after school?” and she fell for it the first time thinking that someone actually thought that she was pretty. She went out and when she got there, they took her food and money. They started laughing and asking if she really thought someone actually thought that she was pretty. She was a really nice girl but also quiet. She later on couldn’t take it any longer, so she told her parents and teachers. They called the bullies in and gave them warnings that the next time it happened they would be expelled. Nothing happened to her for 2 weeks and she started getting papers saying “tattle teller, snitch and teachers bird” it also said that if she dared to say a word they would gang up on her with no mercy. She kept quiet and said nothing because of fear. I did not know much until it was announced and the prefects (prefects means older student in their last year whom can be called for help). I really felt bad for her; I think that bullying is something that weak people do to make them feel better and stronger. I think that if you let them bully you, you make them stronger. I think that bullying shall be stopped before it gets worse than it already is. If bullying occurs it is better to stop it right away. You can stop bullying in many ways. You can make groups that can help and make everyone feel welcomed. I think everyone is responsible and adults are more responsible. Every parent shall keep guard of their children’s act. It is not only something the school must keep an eye on. We can deal with bullies by making them taste their own medicine and we can help victims by letting the feel welcomed and showing them a brighter side of the world. No one shall be scared to act up and speak up.
