The Great Plague of London started in 1665 and ended because of the Great fire of London in 1666. The disease killed about 100.000 people, which was 25 percent of the inhabitants in London. It was called The Great Plague because it was a smaller outbreak than the earlier outbreak “The Black Death” in 1347, but also because it was the last widespread outbreak of bubonic plague in England. People assume that the plague came with ships from the Netherlands. When the plague came to London, the king and his family moved to Oxford. A lot of stores and companies were closed, since a lot of the rich people moved away from London.

Madame Tussauds

We stood in line for about fifteen minutes before we finally were let in after showing our tickets. We walked up some stairs covered with a sort of red carpet. Then we stepped into a new room and paparazzi sound started. A big screen with paparazzi’s on covered one of the walls, while there were some sound effects, so it was supposed to feel like you were on an actual red carpet.

Further on we finally came into a room filled with wax figures. Everyone was taking pictures of themselves and the wax figures of the famous persons and in the middle of the room someone with a professional camera was taking a picture of a wax figure. Then we realized that it actually both were wax figures, and that proves how incredible realistic the wax figures are. Then we came through a long section with people known from sports, films, politics and singers.
