I used to be a powerful man once, feared by the villains and loved by the honest. That was a long time ago. Now I’m just an ordinary human being, trying to make a living for myself. Superheroes don’t receive any retirement-checks. I’ve been living on my father’s royalties since I was eighteen, and I am not proud of it.
I am currently 70 years old, I live in a huge apartment by myself. My grandchildren never visit me. I don’t blame them, nobody likes to hear an old man talk about his struggles and how he wishes he were young again. Moreover, I have a vitamin C deficit; pills would have done the trick for almost anybody else, but my body is really sensitive, so I couldn’t take the pills. That meant that I had to get my source of vitamin C naturally, through citrus fruits, mostly oranges. I eat about 20 oranges a day. At first, my stomach would hurt really bad…you don’t even want to know what happened in the bathroom short time after…
But back to the serious stuff, I was born with something many would call a superpower. Either that, or just simply luck. My father composed the jingle for the Froot Loops’ advertisement back in 1962, so when he died, I inherited everything he had, including the apartment in which I live now. I mentioned superpower earlier, that’s because I did something that helped make the world a better place, or at least make the place I lived in seem better. When my father died in the car accident, I vowed that no one would have to suffer from losing a close person in an accident of whatever form again, so I focused on crafting a weapon, in the form of an injection, that could turn any being into an ‘’updated’’ version of itself. I worked on it for more than fifteen years; my father died when I was 15, so by the time I finished my work on the liquid, my childhood had passed by meaningless. The thousands of hours that I spent on working on the injection payed off in the end though. On my 30th birthday I planned to try the serum on myself, seeing as there were no side-effects on any of the test-animals I had tried it on. Having no social life at that time, I had only one ‘’guest’’ on my birthday, the only person I talked to then: Nico, my assistant.
