Abstract

This paper covers the English phenomenon ‘hooliganism’, in which the thesis focuses on why youngsters fancy the hooligan lifestyle and the difficulties of leaving a firm, as well as an analytic and evaluating perspective on the movie “Green Street Hooligans” (2005) by Lexi Alexander, by the use of the ‘Hollywood Model’. The paper also discusses whether the movie complies with the current hooligan society or not. In the clarification of the thesis, it was concluded that youngsters become hooligans because of the strong solidarity that occur among the hooligan-firms; simultaneously the youngsters also have an urge to be different than everybody else and they have an addiction for adrenalin kicks, an addiction that is expressed through violence. The solidarity and addiction are also circumstances that make it difficult to leave a firm. At the same time we can also conclude that the movie “Green Street Hooligans”, shows a judicious sight on the current hooligan environment.
