'A Gift for My Mother', analyse af barnets perspektiv

A mind of a child. A mind of a child can be so simple, and yet so complicated. To see things through the mind of a child, is something that we have all experienced. When you are a child you don’t think about the consequences, you just do things. On some point, you are more free.

A gift for my mother is a story about a little girl who wants to do everything to make her parents happy. She is a very loving, and caring person. She wants to earn some money for her family, so that they can afford a bigger house. One day after school she decided to go out on the fields, and pick some flowers. She then makes a lot bouquets from those flowers. She then goes from house to house to sell them. She finally sells all of them, and then she returned home to give her mother the money she got from selling flowers. She expected her mom to be very happy, but got the complete opposite reaction from her. Her mom demanded that Lucy went back, and returned all the money she got, because her mom was afraid that people thought that she told Lucy to go out and sell them. Lucy returned every penny she got from selling the flowers, but one lady didn’t want the money back, and told Lucy that if her mom has a problem with it, she can come and talk to her about it.
