Molly is a Jewish girl from Russia, who came to America for freedom. Because in Russia it was very hard to be Jewish.
School
The girls at her new school were teasing her because she looked different and because her English wasn’t good. One day, Molly got very upset about it, so she told her mom. Later that night her father told her, that at the end of the day everyone is the same. Two eyes, one nose and one heart.
Thanksgiving
Molly was asked to read about the first thanksgiving. She had never heard about thanksgiving though.
Thanksgiving it’s a celebration for the Indians and Immigrants, because when the Immigrants came to America the Indians helped them growing plants etc.
The doll
The teacher said that everyone has to make a pilgrim doll. Molly was very excited to make her doll. Molly needed to go to bed, so her mom said that she would make the doll for her. When Molly woke up, the first thing she wanted to do was to see her doll.
When she saw her doll, she got very sad because the doll didn’t look like a pilgrim at all, it looked like her. Her mother told Molly that, Molly is a pilgrim because she came to America for freedom. Molly just said that the doll was beautiful. She was late for class on purpose, because she was too embarrassed to show her doll.
