Comparison: Keeping 1984 in the Past and Minority Report

In the texts “Keeping 1984 in the Past”, Winston Smith is the main person. Winston Smith he got arrested for ‘thoughtcrime’, because of the way he rebellious views on his own society and government. At that time, Winston Smith was brainwashed until he was able to imply after the rule to his society views.

In Minority Report, the main Character was John Anderson (Tom Cruise). In the movie, he trusted this system, that can alleged predict the murder before it happens. John Anderson was a part of the precrime, where he was responsibility to figure out the specific details about the next murders. In the movie, it get exposed that John Anderson would end up murdering a man, who he never met before, so he tries everything he can to fight the system, to prove that he is innocence.

In Keeping 1984 in the Past and Minority Report the main message is that the power corrupts. This is all about the technology is used to enforce power. If you misuse the power, it would end with corruption. Also in both societies, the technology, which were used for the citizens about how much the state, has been improving since they got the source of power.
