[NAVN B], my dear

Massive air attacks, naval bombardments and Battalion March influences my life in this time. The war is making many feelings to me. It is a tough struggle and every day I am homesick. We were together with the Englishmen throws out with parachutes over France. Other thousands of men pour out of the ships all along the coast. Now some of us are sitting in the many trenches around in the territory in fear of bombs there the whole time springs. [NAVN A], my closely friend got seriously hurt the other day. An inflammation condition in his feet has developed gangrene. Yesterday, he died. The last hours, then I hold his hand, it was torture. We cried calmly together.

We are coming in attack-waves and do the enemies timid. We think that we have the administration, but instead I feel very tiny. I am afraid and scared about the coming days. I do my job as a soldier and then I am looking forward to the future together with you, my darling. We don’t sleep very much during the nights. It is so cold here and therefore a necessity to sleep shoulder to shoulder to help each other to hold our body temperature. We have built a community. We are in all a big unity. We are fighting in tailwind and headwind and together we help to bring each other safely through the war. We have a wish about reach an aim, this aim is shortly achieve. I feel that my job is now a habit. Stand up, shoot and sit down again. If you are lucky, you maybe kill somebody. I really don’t think that this is human, because it isn’t joy, fun and nice times for me.
