during the second world war you could hear the following story about two American soldiers. One of the soldiers says” We will better go to Coventry. There is a naked woman who's riding around o a horse in the streets.” The other soldier replied. ” We will better get moving then. I have not seen a horse in ages.” Winston Churchill, whom was the British prime minister during the war is said to have enjoyed the amusing story, which tells us about how the American soldiers had an influence on the British people everyday life, than anyone or anything ever could.

During the second world war were more than 3 million American people stationed in England for shorter or longer periods of time: and none less than 1½ million soldiers stayed on the English south coast in the months leading up to the D-Day in June 1944. their presence had a huge impact on the British society. Not only did the Americans increase, but they also completely changed the British morality. If there was anything left of morality of the Victorian Ages, they literally chopped of the head.

The American soldiers or “GIs”(from the label "Government Issue" on military equipment) reported full of zest for life in the devastated rough and cold England. They had thundering voices, huge bodies, five times the British soldiers payment and access to nylon socks , chocolate, cigarettes, food and clothes. Therefore it was naturally that they easily conquered the tiny discouraged downtrodden British women, whom recklessly had been left behind by their husbands, whom had gone to war. Very ironical, but very much the point said the Americans about the British Women that they had started using new panties: One Yank and they are off.” Everywhere they showed up, they literally got besieged by children begging for Candy. “Any gum, chum.” asked the English boys and the soldiers answer was: “Gotta sister, mister?”
