I checked the sky for signs of rain and set off early to make the most of the day. I had packed my bag with a few necessities - a bite to eat, a bottle of water and heaps of curiosity about what the day would bring. I walked outside the door, and instantly the fresh air of the countryside hit me. I love to trek in the mountains, and i didn’t expect what actually happen throughout the day. When i started walking i instantly fell in love, with the surrounding mountains that would stretch as far as the eye could see. And as i got further i started being able to see across the ocean in the distance, it truly was a majestic view. I couldn’t help but take a picture even though i promised myself not to use electronic devices while i was out. While walking even further i started hearing chirping sounds i stopped and looked around, and i spotted a kiwi bird just a bit further down the trail from where i stood. As i went slowly closer the bird would see me but it didn’t panic infact it stayed where it was, but it was calm while i walked towards it. When i got up to it i get down on my knees and gently stroked it on the chest, and it almost seemed to enjoy it. As i thought our encounter was over and started walking away the bird would follow me along. It would attempt to walk by my side as i gazed at the mountains, when i got to a bridge that would span from one cliffside to another it seemed to not like it. When i went out there it would stop up and look at me so i decided to turn around and follow a different path, so the little fellow could follow along. When i finally got back to my cabin at the end of the day and went inside i got a suddenly feeling, of not being alone in the world. I learned how majestic out nature can truly be, and i felt as though sometimes in life you have to stop up and simply enjoy how amazing our existence is. And how lucky we are to have animal companions, that will always be there to support us. 390 words
