The author is Brittany Packnett, and she released the article 19 of August, in the newspaper called Time. The text appears in the newspaper, because it is where it is released. The newspaper Time properly have website too, so it will most likely appear on the website as well. On August 9, 2014 Michael Brown Jr an 18 year old African American man, was shot by an 28 year old police officer. Ferguson, Missouri was at that point a very racist city, and most of the population was African American. After a long time the African American had built a movement they called, Ferguson Uprising. The citizens and police officer were so afraid of the African American, so got in “self defense mode” as soon they thought or saw they moved, most of the time they would get shot. Four of the African Americans had a chance to explain to the current president at the time, Barack Obama, what really happened out on the streets. This did not really pay off, and the president was not a big help for the African Americans. Police still kept shooting and killing the African Americans with rarely face punishment. They killed up to a 1.000 people a year. The background of Brittany Packnett is probably the same as some of the African Americans, who lived in Ferguson in 2014. She could have the same religion as well, so that why she wrote this article. She had sympathy for the innocent African Americans, who did not had anything to do with the crime, that happened. Some African Americans maybe were criminel, but definitely not all of them. The text is aimed at all the African Americans, who may be offended or lived in Ferguson at the point. The text can also be aimed at the rest of the citizens and police of Ferguson. I think Brittany Packnett wrote this article to protect the African Americans, and prove to rest of the citizens and police not all of them were criminel, but just normal people who just wanted to live a normal life like other people does. Brittany Packnett definitely want to argue and convince people wrong. The background for the African Americans may not be the greatest. Some of them properly got a criminal background, or coming from an family with a alcoholic father/mother or drug abuser. I think a very few comes from a “normal” family, who have lived a normal family and just accidently ended up in the wrong environment. The police of Ferguson was just very racist and did not have a big trust to the African Americans because the are black or comes from a black country.
