Kinkel is born on August 30, 1982. He is the second child of William and Fait, and he also has an older sister named Kristin. His parents were both Spanish teachers. Kinkel went to Thurston High School, just like his father. According to all accounts, William and Faith were loving and supportive parents. His sister Kristin was a gifted student. Kinkel was dyslexic and there before it was difficult for him to learn the subjects in school. He was not a grade student like his sister, even though his parents tried to help him. In the documentary “The killer at Thurston High” his sister said that she is sure he has felt that their parents have compared them. Both concerning school, but also sports. Family Kinkel has always been talented athletes, but he also thinks sport was difficult. His sister was a professional gymnast and he tried hard to become good as her. But it never succeeds. Instead of having an interest in sports, he suddenly became very interested in weapons and explosives. For many years he begged for several different kinds of weapons. And he got it.
