I have just finished my first week in my American high school, and I have had a lot of different impressions about the environment and people here. My first impression was when I walked out of my house. I was, of course, used to ride my bike to school so when I had to get on a school bus, which was a new thing for me, occurred a surprising event for me. The surprising thing wasn’t I had to get on the bus, but it was not like you see in the movies where people get bullied and other stuff like that. It all appeared so normal. Everyone behaved like "usual" for them, of course none of this was usual, for me, so I just found a seat and sat down. No one seemed to notice. So far so good. When we got to the school, people found their friends and started talking with each other on their way to class. My schedule was also different, for example they have something called "clubs". That could be like a Spanish club where you can learn Spanish and meet people who also interested in Spanish. I think the closet thing we have is valgfag but here there is a larger selection of clubs. I made it through math and made it all the way to lunch. A thing I was not prepared for was before you sat down to eat, everyone stood up and pledged the legions to the flag. I kind of just sat there awkwardly and didn’t know what to do. Afterwards I asked them what they did. Alfred, the person I sat next to, said they do that before every lunch in school. To me, that gave off a weird vibe that I wasn’t prepared for, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it. High school wasn’t as cliché as you see in those high school musicals. It's normal. Everything seems to just fit in and nothing appeared out of the ordinary or anything like that. I was expecting something way different than what I got. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I don’t mind it and I have had an interesting week.
