It all started in the 1950’es after the second world war where the scientist developed how to make nuclear energy. Nuclear energy forms when uranium is split into two smaller atoms, and some of the initial mass is transformed into big amounts of energy which can create an explosion. And that can also happen in nature. You can make the reaction go slowly and that is what you do when you make a nuclear power station.

The British people were the first to make a nuclear power station, but why would they make nuclear power when they had cheap and easy coal power stations they could use instead when they didn’t know about global warming? That was because they were making plutonium at the same time for nuclear weapons but no one knew. The cold war started and all of the most powerful countries had nuclear weapons pointing at each other to defend themselves if any of the other countries attacked. The problem is that when the nuclear energy is used it becomes a radioactive waste.

What is the damage?

The damage nuclear fallout results are very dangerous for all life on earth.

There Is three stages when there is a nuclear explosion. Heat wave, pressure wave and radiation. The heat wave burns because of the explosion which causes massive fires. The pressure wave is also very dangerous because of the blast of the explosion can cause flying objects. But the worst of them all is radiation because it can cause long term damage and it is very hard to clear away.
