A massacre that occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, leaving 15 dead, including the two students responsible for the attack. It was one of the deadliest school shooting incidents in American history.
The shootings were carried out by Eric Harris, age 18, and Dylan Klebold, age 17. On April 20, 1999, they entered Columbine High School in Jefferson County with semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and several explosives. In less than 20 minutes they killed 12 fellow students and a teacher and wounded 21 others. The violence came to an end when Harris and Klebold took their own lives. Officials later found two propane tank bombs in the cafeteria; had they detonated, the death toll would have been much higher.
This is sadly just one example of many school shootings, and other kinds of massacres. Every time I see on the news one of these mass shootings in USA, (which it most often is) I honestly think about how stupid and uncontrolled the gun laws in the USA really are.s shootings in other countries like Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom prompted those governments to tighten gun laws. In America, it almost seems to go the other way. If a mass shooting in America happens, I usually hear about many citizens use this as a reason to want more guns for “protection”. Even though The United States, with less than 5 percent of the world’s population, has 46 percent of the world’s civilian-owned guns. It ranks number one in firearms per capita. The United States also has the highest homicide-by-firearm rate of the world’s most-developed nations.
