Earlier today I watched the news, and they mentioned how global warming was worse than ever. And it made me think, why is no one really fighting to stop global warming? I know that we hear about it all the time on the news, but I still just feel like everyone moves on without even giving it a second thought. I sense that everyone just has accepted that our future grandkids will live in a completely different and worse world. Do you walk instead of using the car? Or buy local products? If everyone did that, it would make a big change. I know that the real problem are the electricity and heat production companies, so why is no one trying to get them to pollute less?
For example, when Nelson Mandela wanted to fight apartheid and racial injustice, he pulled himself together and fought for it even though there were huge consequences, and he made some crazy sacrifices. He got the life sentence in prison, even though he was willing to get the death penalty, just so everyone could see how serious he was. He even missed the funeral of his own mother and son. He didn’t get to see his 2 daughters grow up, and he only saw his wife the few times she could visit him. It must have been terrible. And with a growing civil war in South Arica, they had to release him, but he still had been in prison for 27 years. Twenty-seven years! For protesting for basic human rights. I guess that it was all worth it, considering that after his release, he became the president of South Africa! He even won a Nobel price after his release.
