“I was born 28 Marts, 1942 in a little city named Zschochau which is now a part of Ostrau, Saxony. I was forcibly recruited to Bereitschaftpolizei, which is composed of departments from The Federal Police and the German state police. I commanded as a non-commissioned officer school in Potsdam after 3 months of hard training. I signed me in as service in Berlin. All of this happened when I was 15. When I was 19, I was a guard in the corner of Ruppinstrasse and Bernauerstrasse by the east side 2 days started Berlin Wall. The started Berlin Wall consisted only of a single roll of barbed wire fence.
When it was possible, I ran over with full power and dropped my PPSh-41 machine pistol and jumped over the barbed wire fence into West Berlin, while people from the west shouted, “come over”. I was driven away by a police officer. My escape got pictured and filmed by Peter Leiberg, he is a good man, and the pictures was one of the most famous from The Cold War. I moved to Bayern, shortly after I arrived in the West, and I still live in Bayern to this day. The biggest and only problem was the guilt living in the West, I left everything, my family, coworkers, friends. I first started to feel free when the Berlin wall collapsed in 1989.” [NAVN A] 18.
