Our family holiday in South Africa has been nothing short of amazing, and I cannot wait to share some of our experiences.
We started out in Cape Town, where we saw the Table Mountain, and it is obvious where the name derives from. A decision was made to hike to the top, and even though I didn’t like it at first, it did not disappoint. I have never seen such beautiful views. We went to Robben Island and had a look at the prison, Robert Sobukwe’s house and some other stuff. The streets of Bo-Kaap are a must see. They are incredibly colorful.
After we left cape town, we went along the garden route. The drive showed us the diverse nature in South Africa, anything from cliffs to forests. We stopped at some coastal towns where we enjoyed good food and took a break at the beaches.
One of the best parts about the trip was the people we met along the way. We were lucky enough to be allowed into a guest house, owned by a welcoming local South African family. We learned about their traditions and culture, and we tried braai which basically is south African barbeque.
We were on safari in Kruger national park, where we saw some incredible animals. There were elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, leopards, and we saw a lion family chilling under a tree. An incident happened in the national park. A lioness was giving birth and when the lion cub was born, it got killed by one of the lions. The tour guides said that sometimes in nature, if a lion sees a cub that is not his, the lion will kill the cub.
