The unique face of modern Britain, BBC, 2018.
Summary:
London has undergone significant changes in recent years, becoming a highly diverse city with a growing immigrant population. Photographer Chris Steele-Perkins has embarked on a remarkable project called The New British Family, where he captures portraits of families from all 196 UN-recognized countries residing in London. The project is meant to show how immigration has influenced what it means to be British.
Steele-Perkins thinks that London is a unique place because people there have created their own identity. They don't just think of themselves as British or belonging to a specific ethnic group. Instead, they see themselves as Londoners. Steele-Perkins himself knows what it's like to be an immigrant, so he wants to use his photographs to challenge stereotypes and help people understand each other better.
