Wasalu Muhammad Jaco was born February 16, 1982. Jaco was born and raised a Muslim on the Westside of Chicago. Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, better known by his artist name Lupe Fiasco, is a Grammy-winning American rapper. These Grammys he had wins is Grammy Award for Best Alternative Performance: “Daydreamin’ “featuring Jill Scott, it was in 2006. Growing up, Jaco was given the nickname "Lu", the last part of his first name, by his mother was “Pe”. “Lupe” is an extension of this nickname, which he borrowed from a friend from high school. “Fiasco” came from the Firm album. There they had a song called, “Lupe Fiasco”, and than he think is just liked the way it looked on paper. He started rapping when he was in the eighth grade, but was initially put off by the violent imagery of his father's N.W.A records. It wasn't until he heard Nas' 1996 album. Lupe Fiasco is the co-founder and vice-president of the 1st & 15th Entertainment, a record label under Atlantic Records. Lupe signed with major footwear and apparel corporation Reebok becoming part of the "O.G" marketing campaign, where rap artists such as Lil’ Wayne and Mike Jones designed their own personal color way of the Reebok "O.G" model. He designed a white and grey model of the shoe. He already made two albums with called Food & Liquor in 2006 “Daydreamin’ “ and “Kick, push” was two of these most popular of this album. And in 2007 the second album The Cool come out, and “Superstar” featuring Matthew Santos. Superstar will be included in the video game Lips sing star for PlayStation 3. Superstar was also one of these popular, and most see video in the world, of his songs and music videos. Also in 2007, it was revealed that Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams from N*E*R*D and The Neptunes, had formed a group known as CRS.
