Forrest Gump: resume og historisk kontekst

Forrest Gump was born retarded and though other in the city looked down on him and his mother, his mother stood behind him. She always explained things so he could understand it, she fought so he could come in a ordinary school. During his childhood the other children teased him for the way he was, but one certain girl liked him from the first day, Jenny. During the school years Jenny and Forrest followed each other in one way or another. But afterwards it was as if they were sliding apart from each other due to different circumstances. Forrest came into the military where he was sent to Vietnam, down there he was saving some soldiers, and one after one they were sent home because of some injuries. Because of a deceased soldier who had told Forrest about the shrimp industry Forrest became a shrimp fisher later, and the leader from the Vietnam war became as promised officer on his shrimp fishing boat. About same time he has sexual intercourse with Jenny, who runs away the day after while he is still asleep. This makes Forrest running across the whole America for 3 years, not having a reason. After these 3 years he meets Jenny again and that child she had been pregnant with that they had an intercourse long time ago, Forrest was now a father. Finally Jenny and Forrest find the love, and get married. But Jenny is mortally ill and she dies soon after, now Forrest is alone with his boy, Forrest.
