Causes of water pollution Mathias Sewage and waste water Household chemicals, industrial and farming practices produce wastewater that can cause pollution of many lakes and rivers. Sewage is the term used for wastewater that often contains, urine and laundry waste. There are billions of people on Earth, so treating wastewater is a big priority. To get rid of wastewater is a huge problem in poor countries as many people in these areas don’t have access to clean water. Untreated wastewater in these areas can contaminate our environment (miljø) and cause diseases. Sewage in rich countries
