Summary of Bright Lights: The outtake of the novel "Bright Lights, Big City" (1984) by Jay McInerney revolves around an unnamed main character, who fights to survive in the New York fast lane. After his wife Amanda left him, he has been trying to cope with his loss, but it hasn't been going all that well. When the couple first arrived in New York, they dreamed of being able to live the American Dream in the big city. As time passed, it didn't quite work out as they hoped it would.
