In 1170 the first british settlers came to Ireland, they were catholics. In many years there was peace in Ireland. But when King of England Henry the Vlll, fell in love with a lady named Ann Boleyn in the mid 1520’s, and he wanted to get a divorce from his wife Catherine of Aragon, but because of the pope didn’t want to annul his marrige he decided to become protestant so he could get divorced. And then England Became protestant.
But Ireland Didn’t become protestant and that lead to England coming to a northern region of Ireland called Ulster in the beginning of the 17. century and started to introduce protestantism in Ireland.
The catholics in Ireland was very angry of this, and that let to a big war towards the ending of the 17.century called the battle of Boyne, when the Catholics lead by James ll the catholic king of England, Ireland and Scotland attacked the Protestants in northern Ireland who was lead by William lll the protestant king of England, Ireland and scotland.
The protestants won and stayed in Northern Ireland.
United Kingdom
In 1707 England and Scotland came together and formed a union called United kingdom or great Britain.
