The Run Away

“Going to be another hot day,” Hank Spano said to himself and as he climbed out of his old red Buick and walked across the parking lot to his dinner. He fished a big bunch of keys out of his pocket, unlocked the back door and went inside. He switched on the coffee-maker and got donuts out of the freezer before he unlocked the street door and switched on the electric sign: Hank´s Dinner. “Yep, it is sure is going to be another scorcher,” he said, standing in the doorway and looking up at the cloudless sky. It was just as he turned to go back inside that he first saw the kid…

He was between six and seven year old. He had a sack on a stick. Hank went over to the boy and asked, “Hello kid, what are you doing here?” The boy stood and looked at the man, and then he said “I may not talk to strangers”. “Don´t be afraid kid, my name is Hank, now I’m not a stranger” Hank said. “What is your name?” “My name is Ole Hendrickson” the boy said. “Hello Ole Hendrickson, where do you come from?” Hank asked. “I don’t tell you anything here” the boy said. “Then we go inside” Hank said. When they came inside the boy told that his father was a soldier, and his mom is lesbian. “What a shame” Hank said. “Do you want a donut with chocolate glaze?” Hank asked. “No thanks” Ole Hendrickson said, “A donut is very very very unhealthy, and I don’t eat that kind of stuff” he said “that says my mom always”. “What are you doing here?” Hank asked. Then Ole told that he had run away, because he had not been allowed to use his mom´s makeup, as war paint, and play with my dad’s old rifles and pistols, because once he had shot one of his friends in his arm, so it felt off. “Oh, do you have a pistol on you now?” Hank asked, and then Ole Hendrickson said “yes, it is in my bag”. At the same time a policeman came into the dinner. “Hello Hank, how are you doing, it is a great day” the policeman said. “Yes it is” Hank said. “Who is this” the policeman said and looked at Ole Hendrickson. “A boy who has run away” hank answered. “Well, then I take you with me down to the police station”. “No you doesn’t“. Ole Hendrickson said, and then he found he´s pistol and shot the policeman. “What have you done” yelled Hank. “I don’t want to go home” Ole Hendrickson said. Then they took the man, and putted him into the big dustbin. “Where do we go now” Hank asked. “Can’t we not go at your place” Ole asked. “Okay, but we need to hurry” Hank said. Then they went out in Hanks Buick, and drove home to Hank´s house. Hanks house laid on a hillside. They went inside and sat down in the sofa, and turned on the television. On CNN, they saw the news and there stood that a policeman, has been killed on a dinner called “HANK`S DINNER”. There stood that they had found the person, who did the crime, and that they had surrounded his house. “What, that is my house” Hank yelled. “Come out of the house, you are surrounded” the police outdoor yelled. “What shall we do?” Hank yelled. “Go outside” Ole said. That they did, and then they lay down on the earth. “Let the boy come over to us” the police sergeant yelled. Then Ole went over to the policemen’s. While, they took Hank and putted him into the police car, and drove away. When the policemen looked at Hank, Ole ran away. He ran to a BMW and jump into it, and then he started it. His father had taught him to start a car. Then he began to drive. He looked back, and then he drove out over the hillside.
