The sun was setting on the third day and the boys were terrified of what might come, as the darkness slowly lowered itself on the ocean. They didn’t sleep much that night, kept awake by the cold wind, the fear of drowning or even worse, shark bite. A sense of relief could be felt between the boys when the sun finally was showing on the horizon. After having thought a long time, Jack, being the most mathematical, said to Mike that he had estimated the clock to be around 11am and that a rescue team couldn’t be so far away. Back on shore, both their parents were awfully worried. They had notified the coast guard as soon as they heard the weather report in the radio. Unfortunately the search’n’rescue team couldn’t leave port before afternoon on day 3, because of the bad weather. It was going to be difficult finding the boys in a tiny sailboat on the enormous blue ocean.
Late at night Mike suddenly remembered having seen a show on Discovery Channel about some guys that also was trapped at sea with a capsized boat in shark filled waters. Only having a wet flare and two meters of rope they survived 12 days before being found.
