May 5. After the second night at sea, the boys woke up on the third day with a blundering headache, their bodies were aching and they could not stand up the first hour of the day. Suddenly they could feel a rumbeling in their stomachs and it felt like they were starving to death so they soon needed something to eat. But now Mike remembered that they had lost the tackle yesterday so they couldnt catch any fish. Jack told Mike that they should try to set sail for a random direction so they atleast had a chance of finding the coast of North Carolina. When they tried to attach the sail to the mast there was a massive splinter in the mast that ripped up the sail and totally destroyed any chance of getting the boat the sail again. The temperature started rising and their skin started to burn more than ever it felt like their skin was boiling and melting away, Mike had started to get blisters on his ears, Jack suggested that they jump into the water to cool down. When they broke the water surface the water sourrounded their bodies and it felt like ice sickles that pierced their flesh but at the same time it was like going to heaven and feel the water clench their skin. Suddenly something bumbed into Jack´s leg and he looked down and saw this huge white shark swimming around them he suddenly agitated reached for the boat to get up and told mike to do the same. When they got out of the water they looked down just to see the ghostly shadows of approximately 30 sharks circuling the boat. They decided to go to sleep.
