Some say that a child in a school uniform is more likely to take school seriously. Putting on the school uniform signals he or she is going to school just like dad dresses up to go to work. Schools report that when students dress in "work clothes" rather than their own clothes, they take a more serious approach to their studies. It makes the children more participating in the school, wearing school uniform. The uniform sends signals to other, and themselves that they will be more teachable at school.
The most important and positive reason to wear school uniforms, is that it makes discipline to the students, and between the students and the teachers. Many think that school uniforms help maintain school discipline, decreasing the amount of discipline problems. The argument is that children today are lacking in self-discipline because parents refuse to discipline them. This makes it more difficult on the teacher who has to deal with classes of 25-30 students at a time. It will make more respect to the teachers from the students.
Wearing uniforms also decreases violence and theft because of clothing and shoes; it reduces the number of bullies because they wear the same cloth. Instead of bullies and theft it create a sense of community. The students won’t get distracted in the lessons because of “checking” each other look out. The last and a understandable reason to wear uniforms is that it reduces the need of teachers to be “clothes police”, for example determining whether shorts are too short. Potential problems of wearing school uniforms are that students and even parents might argue that uniforms destroy their freedom of expression. Another problem is that the parents are concerned about the prices; they might have to offer moneys they really are in need of. Some families fear it might interfere with religious clothing like yarmulkes.
