History and development

Wall-mart is built on the concept of discount retailing. In the very beginning of the story of Wall-mart the two main characters are Sam Walton and his wife Helen. Sam had a vision about opening these stores all over the USA. He got this vision by traveling around the world where the concept of discount retailing slowly began to develop. When he arrived from his travels he convinced his wife, Helen, to take this idea further and by that open the first Wall-Mart ever. Sam and his wife put up 95 percent of all the money they needed to start Wall-mart by themselves. All this happened from 1950 – 1960 and in 1962 they took the big step and opened the store.
